Extracting CBD: Full Spectrum, Broad Spectrum & Isolates
WHAT’S THE DIFFERENCE?
Full Spectrum
This spectrum refers to the all of the compounds that are in the natural extraction of CBD. In basic terms, full spectrum CBD products are made using the full range of cannabinoids found in hemp. There are many benefits to full spectrum CBD products that includes healthy fatty acids, terpenes, various cannabinoids and other things that create a full picture. Full Spectrum products would have the entire spectrum of all-natural compounds found in the plant…and this includes THC. However, the amount of THC contained in a CBD full spectrum extraction is still not enough to get you "high" or give you the psychoactive effect that people are accustomed to associating with THC. CBD extractions come from the hemp plant, which contains less than 0.3% THC concentration. Not to be confused with marijuana, which contains more than 0.3% THC concentration and will get you "high."
Diosa Kitchen uses CBD made with the full spectrum extraction method. We’ve found that this method allows for us to keep majority of the medicinal health benefits.
Broad Spectrum
With Broad Spectrum extraction method, there’s more processing done to the CBD to remove more of the THC. In this form, you will still get the benefits of the CBD, however, you won’t have all the compounds found in the plant due to more being extracted from it.
Isolate
On the complete opposite side of full spectrum, we have the Isolate extraction method. Isolate means the CBD has been completely stripped away from the plant and isolated from all the other natural compounds occurring in the extraction. Isolate contains absolutely no THC at all. It actually doesn’t contain ANYTHING outside of the CBD compound. Many people and companies prefer to use isolates as they have no taste or smell and can be used anywhere.
Which Method is the Best?
Well, with the Full Spectrum extraction method, not only are you getting majority to all of the medicinal benefits associated with the plant but you can also get what is called the “entourage effect”. In simple terms, the entourage effect is when you consume a full spectrum product and the many and various compounds inside the plant not only have their own characteristics, but can give different results based on how it interacts with other compounds in the same plant, while also reacting with your endocannabinoid system. The entourage effect cannot be achieved by isolate products as they’ll only contain one compound (CBD) out of the many that are located within the plant And it gives you the most therapeutic benefits. At Diosa Kitchen, we proudly advocate for the full spectrum extraction method so that you can get all of the healthy and medicinal compounds of CBD with the least amount of manipulation .
